Gary, I do not have any hunting experience with the Berger VLD, but did do quite a bit of internet research on it. I was going to use the 180 gr. for elk but could not get them to shoot well out of my 300wsm. From what I have read, these should be a very accurate bullet, assuming your gun likes them. Caliber and bullet weight figure into the design of hunting bullets. A 90 grain .243 bullet from any bullet line is probably going to be optimized for use on light framed medium game, such as pronghorn antelope and the smaller deer species. A 225 grain .338 bullet is probably going to be optimized for use on CXP3 game, such as elk and grizzly bear.

Now the shoulder "knuckle joint" is a whole different animal. By the way I'm using the hunting VLD. They do make a target line also. It is not a magic bullet nor a do it all bullet. Re: HELP! 6.5 Creedmoor hunting bullet selection? The 6.5 was a "bone collector" this year, shot two bucks in Nevada and a spike bull elk in Montana. My cousins used the 6.5 on their bucks in Nevada, one at 525, on right at 500 yards.
